ABOUT US
ReThread Earth is brand new beginning February 2010. What inspired it? The owner's 8 year old daughter, who wanted to raise money to help homeless and rescued animals. The owner's daughter wanted take an idea that she learned about at a county fair and turn it into a fundraiser.
What was the idea? In the summer of 2009, the idea came from a couple of 4-H girls who gave a presentation on making bags from t-shirts to replace plastic shopping bags that end up in landfills forever. The owner's daughter loved the idea and decided she needed to make more. Then she decided she wanted to sell them. Then she decided she wanted to donate the proceeds to local area animal shelters because she simply loves animals and all the animal rescue shows on Animal Planet.
The idea started out as just that, an idea. Then a friend of the owner found information about a corporate grant program sponsored by Pepsi Co. called Refresh Everything. The friend thought it might be useful to get the young girl's project off the ground and running. The owner checked into it, found a spot in the program perfect for this project under the "Planet" heading and submitted the idea. The idea was accepted and voted for online at www.refresheverything.com. The grant was voted in at #4 and so here we are getting down to the business of "Save the Planet . . . Rescue an Animal".
So how does that take us to this company called ReThread Earth? The energy saving light bulb went on when the owner was trying to figure out how to market these t-shirt bags after the grant was won. Thinking of a web site to develop for marketing the bags she came up with the expanded idea of an entire online store for "Remade" items. She brainstormed for a store name and viola you now have ReThread Earth at your service.
You are witnessing the birth of an innovative "green" company all inspired from the idea of an 8 year old girl. God does work in mysterious ways, he wants us to be the keepers of the earth He created and we should all be stewards of his good works, even if it takes the ideas of young 4-H members and girl who loves animals.
